Mass Casualty Patient Tracking System Evaluation for HMIS

 

Research Objective:  the objective was to provide BAMC with alternative wireless patient tracking systems with recommendations for future review/testing.

Findings- Evaluation criteria resulted in the manual system was scored lowest overall.  It was the least expensive system. It rated the lowest in Information Management, Integration, Personnel & Ability to upgrade.   The AdvanTRAX® system scored better in the areas of Maintenance & Implementation Costs. AdvanTrax rated below Versus Information System & Axcess for Information Management, Integration, Personnel demands, & ability to upgrade. VIS & Axcess, rated equally in the criteria of Information Management, Costs, & Personnel requirements. VIS rated higher in the criteria of Integration and Ability to upgrade. In addition, certain military healthcare facilities are effectively using the VIS system for MASCAL scenarios. VIS has also been integrated with other systems currently on the market. VIS system a distinct advantage over the others evaluated.  VIS system was recommeded.  Further investigation of cost/practicality is recommended
